St. Patricks Day Parade

SmugMug Daily Link

The streets of downtown Raleigh were packed for the St. Patrick's Day parade.  Temps were in the upper 70s, and the sun was out in full force.  It was a sea of green for sure with everyone in a festive mood.  We lined up with the group from Marbles Kids Museum and had a great time marching.  Below you can see the crowd in front of the courthouse as we come up Fayetteville Street towards the Capital Building.

The Capital Building is to the left here, and we're about 2/3 of the way through the parade route.

I guess technically I shouldn't have been taking pics while walking in the parade, but I don't do much of anything without my camera around my neck, and it was just too tempting.  Plus, this parade has a very casual feel to it.  Lots of people had cameras and folks on the side would talk to those in the parade and vice versa.

The boys saw several of their classmates during the parade and ran over to give the girls big hugs!  Joey really likes Eliza, and Johnny has a thing for the twins, Lauren and Lindsey:-)

We even got to see Joey's teacher, Ms. Miller:

And here's Joey with his parade enthusiasm!

Behind the scenes before the parade started, I saw this groovy couple.  This float was just a bunch of friends that pick a theme each year, register, and have fun.

We also saw and heard this wonderful group of musicians play.

And, after the parade, these girls were waiting to give their performance on stage.  Love those colorful costumes!

I think it was a very successful day for the Irish and everyone else sharing in the fun for the day!
