Saw this great wreath at a local craft show.  Below is Joey dressed as Uncle Sam at the spring festival at his school.  Too cute!

Fuquay Fireworks

SmugMug Daily Link

We got to the Fuquay firworks tonight just as they shut things down due to rain from Hurricane Arthur.  Boo!  Johnny was so disappointed to miss going on all the inflatables.  We would have waited it out, but the radar showed steady rain on the way, so we went back home.  Double boo!  At 8:20 the town set the fireworks off anyway.  That was at least an hour early.  We ran for the car and watched them on the street behind our house which has a mostly open view.  This is the best shot I got through the rainy windshield.  We have more fireworks photo ops the next two nights, so I'm trying not to be too bummed.  Still...

Here are my wet boys leaving the festivities at South Park.

Coneflower and Bee

SmugMug Daily Link

Here's another shot taken at the Museum of Life and Science yesterday.  Glad you guys liked the bee in yesterday's daily shot, and there's another one in this shot.  These coneflowers were a smidge old and faded, so I boosted the saturation just a bit.

Today the boys and I were at Marbles Kids Museum at the new Kid Grid playspace.  It's pretty cool but  a lot like the Money room.  The boys were well entertained in there for 30 minutes or more.  I really liked the layout and design.

We were also at the Lego Monthly Mini Build tonight.  The boys got to make a small van vehicle with a surf board on top.

Blanket Flower and the Bee

SmugMug Daily Link

One of several pretty flower shots that I took today at The Museum of Life and Science in Durham.

Johnny sure did have a good time today posing with Max, and a blue morpho butterfly, using the mister, and diverting water.

We also went to the nearby Eno River park and had a good time cooling our feet and enjoying Molly the dog.

X

SmugMug Daily Link

We're getting near the end of the alphabet.  Today was X day.  This was taken at the NC Transportation Museum earlier this year.

Blackberry Cobbler

SmugMug Daily Link

Donnie suggested that we take a walk along a trail near our house and pick blackberries. We needed buckets, so I grabbed some Halloween candy buckets LOL.  Round trip it was about 2 miles, and we got about 10 cups of berries.  I decided to Make the Pioneer Woman's Blackberry Cobbler #2.  OMG!  Yum!  She insisted that vanilla ice cream was essential to the cobbler, so Donnie went to Sunni Skies and brought home some awesome tasting vanilla.  There are many more berries still ripening, and I plan to go pick some more later this week in the hopes that we can have cobbler a few more times this summer.  We so rarely have sugar or treats at our house, so this was extra special for us.

Graduation Splash!

Joey graduated from 5th grade this week (Thursday) and moves on to middle school at the end of July.  One of his classmates hosted a pool end of school party (Friday), and Joey (and Johnny and I) really enjoyed the slide.

Awesome Attendance

SmugMug Daily Link

I attended two awards ceremonies at the boys' school on Wednesday.  At the first one, Johnny got the Panther Gold award (see pic below).  Kids that behave well, show up ready to work, and have a great attitude get this award. At the second one, both boys got the Awesome Attendance award.  Joey also got a candy bar for having perfect attendance.  Awesome attendance allows you to miss up to one day each half year and up to one tardy each half year.  Johnny had a fever one day that forced him to miss one day.  Last year he got the candy bar and Joey had the fever.  A big pat on the back to Mr. Don for all those mornings cooking breakfast and helping to get the boys out the door to school.
