Bradford Pears

SmugMug Daily Link

Taken on the way home from school with the boys on Friday.  I used manual mode with a -1/3 exposure for most of the shots to control the white and get the rich blue.  Cropped minimally to  nice 8X10 size.  No other pp.

It's 70 here today and just gorgeous but we're looking at winter temps again this coming week...sigh.

Pink Blossoms

SmugMug Daily Link

I stopped to enjoy and take pics of these gorgeous blossoms in town yesterday.  I tried to get it sharp, really make use of the blue sky, and grab some interest in the background.   I saw some blossoms falling off already and wished I could get under one of them and get  good picture.  Not happening, so I tried one right on the lens.  Kindof neat!

Cedar Waxwing

SmugMug Daily Link

I waited all winter and finally spotted a cedar waxwing!  I was prepping for dinner, and there he and his friends were just out my kitchen window and over my bird feeders.  Although a very low light shot, I am very glad I got it!

Wet Daffy

SmugMug Daily Link

Drove past these pretty daffodils today and had to turn around and stop and take a few pics.  Cloudy and wet but still springlike and pretty.

Spring Work

SmugMug Daily Link

I took this lovely daffodil shot on Saturday when Donnie and I were creating a garden spot for me and the boys this plant this spring/summer.  As we ate lunch, red vermillion snapper pan fried on a cast iron skillet on the gas grill and brussel sprouts, we sat close to the daffodils I planted in November.  They looked so l ovely in the sun and it was warm...near 70.

Today of course it's another world out there again with temps hovering near freezing and school closed due to ice accumulation farther north in our county.

Here are some pictures of the garden.

It took us about 6 hours total to do it right.  We bought the cedar wood raised bed kits at our local Home Depot as well as the dirt.  Donnie did a great job getting my old tiller running and levelling and installing the  boards.  There is some rebar reinforcement.  Because this spot is on a short hill, we were able to stretch 3 4'x4' kits into a 24' x 4' area (no boards on the back and only one board for support between each 4' section.  I spent a good bit of time with the mattox taking a first pass at the roots so the tiller could do the rest.  I'll be starting seeds with the kids soon...the usual suspects like tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash. as well as some herbs.  Wish us luck because between deer, squirrels, and other critters it could be hard going.  We'll be putting up some sort of wire fencing but trying to decide how high and how to do it without making it too difficult for me to work the soil.

I

SmugMug Daily Link

This is a shot of a level taken from the side.  I resized the image so it wasn't such a fat I.

I also took shots looking at the end.
