Amtrak

SmugMug Daily Link

A shot taken in Durham this past week and pp'ed today.  I got lucky and was stopped at this crossing as the first car and had time to get my camera out.  The station is just to my right.  The original shot was quite blah, so I tried to spice it up some.

Camp Flintlock Dress-Up

SmugMug Daily Link

Johnny's 3rd grade class took a trip to Camp Flintlock yesterday,  Camp Flintlock is set in Colonial times, and the kids got to dress-up, make crafts (necklace and India Ink), play games (tug of war and Jacob's ladder), and listen to stories.  My daily shows Johnny (red vest) and some of the other kids from his classed dressed up.  I helped the girls get into their costumes at this station for most of the morning while other volunteer parents worked the other stations.  We all had a great time!

Check out the videos below to see some American Revolutionary War period weapons in action.

By the Fence

SmugMug Daily Link

I spotted these very tiny flowers growing along a fence at Camp Flintlock today.  I was out there for Johnny's class field trip, and we had a great time.  I'll post  picture of the kids tomorrow.

Anyone know what these flowers are?  I suspect some consider them a weed, but not me.  They look a bit like a Pansy, Johnny Jump Up, or violet.

Dreamy Bradford Pear

Taken a few days ago and pp'ed today.  I kept tweaking it never quite happy.  The line across in the middle bothers me and I wish there had been more sky blue.

Magnolia Blossoms Take Two

SmugMug Daily Link

A very different shot of the same magnolia tree that I posted a bud from yesterday.  I liked how this one was opening and leaning.  Instead of brown grass for a background like I had yesterday, the angle here was different, and I caught an evergreen hedge for the background.

Promise of Spring

SmugMug Daily Link

Taken in Fuquay today as I drove home from school and errands.  Spring really has sprung.  However, we are in for two nights of very cold temps and I fear some of these pretty buds will get zapped:-(  I know nature is resilient, but sometimes I wish it didn't have to be.  Quote today by me:-)

This is either a Japanese or Saucer Magnolia.
