Feed Me Take Two
SmugMug Daily Link
This is the bluebird box at Donnie's house. The babies should fledge this weekend. I saw as many as two at a time in the whole around lunchtime today. Although at first glance it looks like momma bluebird has a berry in her mouth, a close-up inspection shows legs and antenna, so I'm pretty sure it's a bug. I'll keep watching the box and hoping to see the babies once they are out and in the yard. The parents continue to feed for several days even after the babies fledge.

Flower Collage
SmugMug Daily Link
I was back in my neighbor's yard yesterday to see what the bluebird babies were doing. I think they fledged not long after I took my mouth open at the hole pics. I didn't hear them or see mom or dad in the 15 minutes I was there. I did however get some pretty cool flower shots. I couldn't pick, so you get a collage.
The bluebird babies in Donnie's box are still there although they are due to fledge sometime between Friday and Sunday.

New Roof
SmugMug Link
Donnie's house got a new roof today. They were there at 7 with a 15+ man crew and gone by 2PM with a reroofed garage and house. Wow! Glad it's done. They did a nice job. The only thing I didn't realize was that a lot of grit would go into the attic through the roof hole. Ugh! It's gonna take an hour or two of vacuuming to get the attic cleaned up.

Feed Me! #2
SmugMug Daily Link
This is another shot from Judy's mom's bluebird box. The momma bluebird has a lizard (minus tale) in her mouth. She went in with it and apparently fed it to the babies. Pretty cool!

Feed Me!
SmugMug Daily Link
My friend and neighbor Judy called me down to her mom's house for what I called an emergency photo op. She said the baby bluebirds in her mom's box were peeking out of the nest box hole. I got down there as quick as I could and was able to capture several pics of the babies in the late day light. How totally cute!
Here's a zoomed in shot of the one I posted for my daily. I used no flash, flash, and center spot focus to try to get the best illumination on them that I could. I though this shot turned out best.

Daddy Bluebird
SmugMug Daily Link
Looks like Mr. Bluebird has a grub in his beak. The babies were eager for him to come and feed them. Today is about day 12. 4-8 more days before they fledge. I'll try to get some shots.

Rosie

A shot of a rose that I took at The Garden Hut yesterday. It was good to get a few minutes to take some pics and enjoy the flowers.
Happy Mother's Day
SmugMug Daily Link
I've been quiet today, but I'm wishing all my mom friends out there a very Happy Mother's Day even if it's a bit late. It was a busy but fun Mother's Day with all my boys. Here's the low down. Joey snuck Mr. Don into our spare bedroom last night to make me a Mother's Day card. They did a lovely job (purple one on the left top left photo). Johnny had made his card at school. I though the tissue paper flowers were lovely. I had a special breakfast. Usually we have bacon with breakfast and Donnie cooks. Today we had sausage, and Joey stepped up to help. He's browning the sausage in the middle top picture. Meanwhile I had Johnny help with the vacuum. Having a clean house is a good thing to let a mom enjoy the day. Donnie and Joey served me up this monster onion, sausage, and cheese omelet. Yum! Not pictured, I got Joey to use the blower on the deck and driveway. We rested for a while and then went to Donnie's house. He spent time sanding and spackling the ceilings we've been working on...again. He's been working so hard to get the house ready for us to move in, and I really appreciate it. I took a trip to The Garden Hut with Johnny. The flowers were GORGEOUS! I took pics. I'll share some more of them this week. Then meanwhile back at the house, I got the boys to wash my car. Of course that meant they washed each other too. First water play of the year. FUN! Did you hear them at your house? They were loud and giggling up a storm as they chased each other with the hose. I did cook dinner, but that's OK, Sunday meals are special in our house and it turned out yummy and enjoyable (chicken thighs with carrots and turnips, asparagus, and cauliflower mash). Donnie cooks breakfast for me all the time, and I'm a lucky girl. Now to enjoy my birthday tomorrow:-)
