Wide Open Wings

SmugMug Daily Link

I stopped by the same bush yesterday that I did the day before.  I went nuts taking a ton of pics.  It wasn't a straight forward choice, but I really do like this open wing shot.

Here are a few other shots that you might enjoy.

You can really see the probiscus in the flower in this one.

Another View of the Mix

SmugMug Daily Link

Here is the sideways shot that goes with yesterday's shot.  I thought it was lucky I got the sky blue peeking through.  Still not sure what this bush is.

A Mix of Black and Yellow

SmugMug Daily Link

I was so excited this morning to come across a bush with 10+ swallowtails on it.  Some were yellow, some were black, and this one seemed to be something inbetween.  I took over 100 pictures in 15 minutes and got a few keepers I think.  This view is obviously open wing.  See tomorrow's daily for a side profile view.  No clue what kind of bush this is.  Any clues?  I may have to try to dig up a sprig and move it to my yard!

Flower Combo with Spider

SmugMug Daily Link

I went out a bit too late to get any good butterfly pictures today. Sigh... I did take this flower shot which includes a tiny crab spider. Can you spot him? The red flower in the background is a pot of begonias. I liked the yellow on red color combo.

Dragonfly Up Close and Personal

SmugMug Daily Link

He was sitting there posing so nicely for me this AM and let me get my camera in macro mode right up in his face.  I was pleased I could see the detail on his 'eyes' and decided to crop and show this close-up instead of a farther away shot.

Here's the best farther shot in case you want to see the whole body for identification.  My first guess would be a Blue Dasher.

Taken and Donnie's house yesterday.  Same scene going on at my house too.

I unveiled my new SmugMug site redesign tonight.  If you haven't stopped by my site in a while, please take a few minutes to check it out.  Thanks!

Wet and Wild Emerald Pointe

SmugMug Daily Link

We took a break yesterday and went with the Kidd Family to Wet and Wild Emerald Pointe in Greensboro, NC.  As you can see, we had a splashing good time!  We got there when they opened at 10, left when they closed at 7, and hit almost every attraction in the park:-)

The ride we liked the least was the one I thought would be the best. It was the Tunnel of Terror.  Somehow I missed that the whole ride would be in the dark.  Go figure!  I thought it was going to be like the Tornado at Great Wolf Lodge but it wasn't.  Our favorite ride was the Dragon's Den.  You drop out of the tube into an open air sphere where you circle around a big dragon and then finally go into his mouth and out another shoot to end the ride.  Fun stuff!

I had my Kodak EasyShare Sport C123 camera around my wrist the ENTIRE day and took about 150 pics.  Not the quality of my regular camera but a great way to get some fun pics around lots of water.  The kids kept begging me to try to get them under water.  I was just glad the park staff had no issues with me taking it onto the rides with a wrist strap.

We felt the lines were a bit slow yesterday.  One of the lifeguards said a typical day is 3000 folks and somehow there were over 7000 yesterday.  Wow!  I would go again but try a weekday.
