Dragonfly Perch

I took this picture of a dragonfly in my yard today.  I've been really lazy about taking too many picture outside this year because I just can't stand either mosquito bites or insect repellent.  After I mowed, weed eated the yard, and blew the driveway, steps, and porch, I decided a few pictures were in order since I was already geared up for outside and hot and sweaty.  While there are very few butterflies around, I am noticing many dragonflies and damselflies.

I was pleased to get in 4+ miles and nearly 8000 steps on my Fitbit doing the yardwork.  Donnie would use the tractor to mow, but I want the exercise.

Cape Fear Wildflower

This beautiful wildflower was growing on the shore of the Cape Fear River at one of the spots that we beached the canoe.  Reminds me of honeysuckle but it was tall and bushy and pink.

Cape Fear River Canoe Trip

Donnie and I want on a canoe trip Thursday on the Cape Fear River via Cape Fear River Adventures.  They run out of Lillington, NC only 20 minutes away from home.  I'd been wanting to canoe on the Cape Fear since I hiked to the Raven Rock State Park Fish Traps a few years ago and saw all the canoes going over the rocks there.  For this trip, we picked the 2 hour wildlife adventure on a lazy part of the river that took us about 2 miles.  This trip had two class 1 rapid areas that were fairly easy to maneuver.  We beached the canoe twice to swim, went through the rock garden (second class 1 rapids) twice, and took a small offshoot of the river near our pick-up spot to do some extra exploring.  I had a great time, and a real thanks to Donnie for going on the adventure with me.

I always notice the flowers when I go Wal-Mart's garden center.  The rudbeckia really caught my eye on my visit Monday, and stopped to take a few pics.  This one was my favorite.

Corelle South Beach Pattern and Stuff

I put away all the patriotic colors and decorations yesterday, so it was time to redecorate the table with a new tablescape.  The color scheme is now primarily line green and teal.  Very cool yet summery I think.  The plates came from Wal-Mart and are the Corelle South Beach pattern.  The placemats and Libby glasses are also from WM.  I had trouble finding napkins, and pictured, are pieces of precut fabric also from WM.  That nifty green vase is LSA of Poland that came from Guardian Angel thrift along with the serving plate and bowl under it.  Most of the candles pictured are PartyLite.  Also on the table but not seen in this picture are a tiny owl bank from WM, a small metal butterfy basket from GA, a green clip-on butterfly from WM, clear glasses with floating green flower candles, and a clear glass vase from GA that has buttons in flower shapes in it.  The table looks so pretty that I haven't let us eat off of it yet!
