Halloween

Joey is center as a ghost and Johnny is on his left as a Mickey Mouse wizard. We enjoyed walking with some of our friends from our 'old' neighborhood.

Some of us are able to get more air than others;-)  Obviously, we had a great day at our yearly trip to The Vollmer Farm.  In looking back, we've been going since 2009, and the only year we missed was 2012 due to terrible weather most of the October weekends.  Until next year!

Joey is very active with the Service Club at his middle school.  This past week, he helped resource officer, John, make these candy iPod gifts for the kids to receive when they signed up to iTune Out Drugs.  Cute!

Fall Trip to Sylvan Heights

SmugMug Daily Link

The boys and I made our yearly fall trek to Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park during trackout.  It was a great day to walk around the park, and we saw all the usual fantastic birds.  One of these days I am going to go when I have the time and concentration to get the park photo pass.  If you haven't been lately, or at all, you really should visit this wonderful park.  The Landing Zone alone is worth the drive there.  The boys enjoy that so much, that we have to go twice during our visit!

GeekMom Review Assistants

SmugMug Daily Link

I took this cute photo while I was working with Johnny to review a book about Lego brick building for GeekMom.  More coming on that soon!

Most of my time lately is spent on First Lego League.  For every hour we meet, it takes about 2 hours outside of meetings to get ready.  We met 4 hours per week during trackout, and now that the kids are tracked back in, we're back to meeting 90 minutes a week BUT we're behind in our preparation for Regionals on 11/8, so now we're trying to meet 3 hours a week. There's a lot involved from robot programming to challenge question investigation to understanding all the rules.  It's been a fun but challenging ride so far.  I look forward to competing and then taking some time to breath and refocus.

First Lego League CPR Demonstration

SmugMug Daily Link

The kids on my First Lego League (FLL) team are learning about CPR as part of answering the 2014 Challenge question.  Our alternate coach, Ms. Norwood, brought in a CPR dummy and gave the kids a demonstration of how chest compressions are done as well as allowing the kids to give it a try themselves.
