Total Eclipse

We had a total lunar eclipse tonight. At the start, we got some very dense cloud cover that prevented viewing. But, as the eclipse progressed, the clouds cleared, and we were actually able to enjoy the show. Here are a few pics that I took. A few more are here. I took over 400 pics trying to get these few good shots... To me, it was worth it.

8:42PM...the eclipse starts at 8:43PM.

9PM...you can notice the eclipse starting in the lower left.

10:34PM...total eclipse in progress. Why is the lower right so white?
11:42PM...the eclipse is almost done.

Winter Visit to the Beach

Bonnie (Rick's sister) and Phil are in town on winter break from NY. We've been doing what we usually do when they visit. We've made a trip to Crabtree Mall and to A Southern Season earlier in the week. Today, we went to Wrightsville Beach. We ate at The Oceanic and then went with Bonnie and Phil to The Blockade Runner where they are spending the night. Since the boys and I have been having a lot of fun feeding the ducks and geese at Lake Wheeler recently, I thought I'd bring some bread to the beach and see what kind of fun we could have there. It turned out to be a great idea. You can get away with drawing 50+ birds overhead when you're the only one on the beach. Hope you enjoy these pics!
