Haircuts

Well, it was that time again tonight...time to give the boys haircuts. Don't ask me what possesses me to do things like this at 7 o'clock at night after I've been to RTP and back (30 miles each way for work). It just needed done, and I had a moment of inspiration.

I think the cuts turned out fine. Madi and Christine came to visit near the end of Johnny's (2nd) cut. Madi was happy to pose with her cleaned up boys;-)

Bambi

I had a real treat when I came into the IBM parking lot today. A mother dear crossed the road in front of me and waited for her baby to cross behind her. I rolled down my window and got a good picture of the mom and then took a picture 'Bambi' through the front windshield. The baby was afraid and would not run in front of me, so eventually I slowly passed. Hopefully they reunited shortly afterward.

Marbles Kids Museum

The boys and I had another fun day with Patricia, Timmy, and Jacob at the Marbles Kids Museum. All the pics are here. I put a lot of comments with the pictures, so you can get a good idea of what we were up to.
The most fun for me was watching Joey and the kids play mailman. Joey REALLY got into it wearing his costume for over 15 minutes. Johnny even put one on! Patricia wrote a really sweet letter to Jacob, and on his own, he wrote one back to his mom. Break my heart it was so cute!
Johnny also had fun being an ambulance driver and making the red light spin. Timmy had fun playing with the babies and carrying them around all swaddled up.

Everyone really came alive for the water area. Let's just say that the new arrangement allows the kids to have a little too much control of the water:-) The kids were wet and thrilled.

Joey said his favorite thing was building a dam with rocks in the outside water area. He was fascinated (and hoarding the rocks). Thanks to Patricia for getting him started.

All the boys loved the huge pirate ship! We were there for over 15 minutes too. Joey was having a tug of war with the anchor, and the other kids were washing the decks and raising the flag.

The car race area was also fun. Jacob really put some effort into building his race car and trying various models and techniques to build a car that would not only stay together but also go fast. Meanwhile, Joey was thinking his car won every race whether it did or not.
Before we knew it, we'd spent another fun 4 hours!

Zoo Trip

Joey, Johnny, and I took a trip to the NC Zoo in Asheboro on Friday with Patricia, Jacob and Timmy. This is our last trip before they move to Nebraska later this year. We were glad to get in one more visit with them since most of the times we've been to the zoo we've gone with them. And, all of those times have been really happy ones.

We got to the Africa side around 10:30AM and left the North America side around 5PM. Wow!!! 6.5 hours at the zoo. It was a blast. We saw everything except for 2 buildings. The weather was warm but not too hot. Whew...

The kids were mostly well behaved and really enjoying the day and the animals. The kids enjoyed the water mister trees, ice cream cones, pictures with the statues, the water painting exhibit, and a trip to the souvenir shop! The otters and seals put on just the best shows. All the kids, but especially Johnny, were giggling with delight. Johnny tried to stop at every water fountain at the zoo. Timmy crashed for a while from too much fun. Jacob did an excellent job reading the signs along the way and studying the animals. And, Joey was his typical silly self (witness his feet in the water barrel picture).

Patricia tells me there is a big zoo near where they are moving. Maybe we can visit some day!

The rest of the pics, and there are some good ones, are here.

Little Gym Show Week

School is out, and the end of The Little Gym (TLG) semester is here too. This week is Show Week which means that the kids have their parents come in the gym and watch them do the routines they've been working on. I watched the boys last night and took lots of pictures and a few videos. They did real good. Johnny is now following his routine without stopping, getting distracted, or going off and doing his own thing. Joey did a nice backwards roll on the cheese mat (wedge) fast enough to go over straight by himself and get back into a standing position. He was definitely not doing that 6 months ago.

The boys will be back this summer in a Sport Skills class. Mr Corey is teaching that, and he is soooo excited to have the boys back in his class.

A few pics are below. The rest of the pics are here.

The Waterslide - Day 2

Before Danny packed up the slide, the kids wanted to have one more thrill. I think today's pics are better than yesterday's pics. The kids were a little wilder, and they used an inflatible dolphin (shark?) to sit on top of to go down the slide with. Big kids and small kids alike were having a blast. The green float at the end of the slide was for tumbles out past the end of the slide...the float was softer than the ground! It was funny to watch Tyler and Daniel do their stunts but even more so to see the smaller kids try to mimic them (i.e., rolling down the slide sideways).

Here's to a great weekend! and hopefully a great summer!!!

All of today's pics are here.

Waterslide Fun!

If you have this incredible urge to look at the 400 pics I took yesterday, they are here.
